Email this article Print this article Text size + - An investigation is underway after a worm-like creature was found in a baby's bottle.
An Auckland couple got a nasty shock when they spotted a creature at the bottom of their four-month-old baby formula milk.
Jayden Wen had drank most of his bottle before his parents realised they was something in it.

His father Brian Wen, who lives on Auckland's North Shore, told ONE News how he and his wife discovered the critter swimming around in the bottle.
"He left 15ml inside the bottle, we looked into it and we saw a black dot," he said.
"We got a spoon and took it out, and we saw a live worm."
On closer inspection they also found cobwebs and larvae inside the tin of Karicare formula they had bought at the supermarket just the day before.
The formula was produced in May, and had a best before date of 2015.

"(It's) really shocking, really shocking actually," said Brian.
"His mum was really worried about our son. The first reaction, we want to take him to hospital and check he's alright."
In a statement to ONE News from Nutricia - the company who produce the formula - said they have spoken to the customer on several occasions, and will conduct a full investigation into the discovery.
Furthermore, a spokesperson for the company said they take all issues regarding the quality and integrity of our products very seriously.
"The Ministry for Primary Industries, who is very familiar with our procedures and manufacturing processes, audits Nutricia on a quarterly basis to ensure the highest quality assurance.
"All our cans are empty and sterile when they arrive. They are then blown out with sterile air prior to filling to ensure no foreign matter is present before the powder is packed into the cans," the spokesperson said.
Additionally, Karicare says that all of their scoops are sterilised via UV light.
They have offered the Wen family a replacement tin or a refund.
Brian said: "You feed your baby a bottle and you find a worm inside their drink, it's really, really disgusting."
Bug expert Richard Toft said he believes the creature is a caterpillar from moth larvae, which would not have been dangerous if swallowed by Jayden.
However, food safety experts from the Ministry of Primary Industries will now examine the discovery in a bid to confirm what it was.

發(fā)現牛奶里面有蟲子？日前，家住奧克蘭北岸的Brian Wen華人夫婦就這樣被嚇到了。
Brian的兒子Jayden現在剛剛四個月。日前，他如往常一樣，給兒子沖調Karicare一款嬰兒奶粉。就在牛奶快被喝到見底的時候，一只小蟲子赫然出現在奶瓶里。

“當Jayden把牛奶喝得只剩下15毫升的時候，我們夫婦倆發(fā)現里面有個黑點。”Brian回憶說�；仡^仔細查看，他們又在奶粉罐里發(fā)現類似蛛絲的東西，以及昆蟲的幼蟲。
這罐奶粉是在發(fā)現蟲子的前一天從超市購買的，罐上標明生產日期是今年5月,有效期限到2015年,是普通版的1段嬰兒奶粉 ,(karicare普通版的為3年保質期,而金裝版的因為有魚油DHA只有18個月保質期)。“這真是太嚇人了。”Brian坦言，孩子的母親非常擔心孩子的健康。剛發(fā)現有蟲子的時候，他們還想著要帶孩子去醫(yī)院做檢查。

在發(fā)給ONE News的聲明中，Karicare方面表態(tài)將展開全面調查。同時，還將為Brian一家進行換貨或退款。

昆蟲專家Richard Toft分析，出現在奶粉里面的昆蟲可能是只飛蛾的幼蟲。哪怕Jayden不慎將其吞下，應該也不會有危險。
盡管如此，初級產業(yè)部（MPI）的食品安全專家已經著手進行調查。
